Physician and Surgeon
Maternal-Fetal Medicine
Thomas Lee, MD, is a board-certified maternal-fetal medicine physician and surgeon at Northwest Perinatal Center in Portland, Oregon.
“Women and families experiencing complications during pregnancy need data and expertise. But even more, they need someone to help them understand what it means for them. Someone who will listen to their needs, learn about their situation and guide them in reaching decisions that take all things into account. My goal is to help each person understand the best available science and to be the source of emotional support and encouragement they need.”
Dr. Lee finds helping women and families navigate the complications of pregnancy to be very rewarding. While he enjoys caring for all high-risk pregnancies, he has special interest in the fields of diabetes in pregnancy, preterm delivery and ultrasound.
In addition to caring for families during pregnancy, Dr. Lee is passionate about improving how patients experience their health care, through his work to provide efficiencies in operations, electronic medical records and care delivery. He is also active in local and national professional organizations dedicated to improving quality. He currently serves on the Society for Maternal-Fetal Medicine’s (SMFM) Board of Directors, the Advisory Board for SMFM’s Practice Management Division, the SMFM Committee on Patient Safety and Quality, and the SMFM Clinical Informatics/EMR Steering Committee.
Dr. Lee and his wife enjoy food, travel and quiet time at the beach with their dogs Hercules and Frankie.
