Ally Lebenbaum (formerly Abbott), MS, CGC, is a certified genetic counselor with Northwest Perinatal Center in Portland, Oregon.
“I hope to provide each family with the information and understanding they need to make decisions that are right for them.”
Before she had even heard of genetic counseling, Ally had grown to love caring for children and families experiencing serious medical conditions at the summer and weekend camp where she worked during college. Combined with her study of psychology and biology, genetic counseling was a perfect fit and she went on study human genetics in graduate school. Now, Ally helps families understand their options for preconception and prenatal genetic testing and their results to help them make the best decisions for their health and family. Her most recent experience includes working in pediatrics, which gives her unique insight into the broader diagnostic journey and medical management of children with known or unknown genetic conditions.
New to Portland, Ally enjoys getting to know the city (and the food!) when she is not working. She also looks forward to going to the movies again, and is in the process of getting her cat certified as a therapy cat to volunteer in hospitals and other care facilities.
