Beginning September 11, the Oregon Department of Transportation will close the southbound lanes of I-5 at the Rose Quarter, around the clock, for up to five weeks of critical roadway repairs. The closure is expected to last into early October.

While the construction is centered downtown, the effects are expected to be widespread. Detoured traffic will move onto I-405, I-205 and local streets, and ODOT anticipates significant, unpredictable delays throughout the Portland metro area — at all hours of the day, not just during the usual commute. Even if your route to our office never touches I-5, plan for slower travel than usual.

Here are some things you can do to get to your appointment on time:

  • Leave 20–30 minutes earlier than usual, especially for morning appointments.
  • Check conditions before you go. TripCheck.com and Google Maps show real-time traffic.
  • Consider transit. TriMet has published a rider’s guide for getting around during the closure.
  • Call our office right away if you’re running behind. Appointment times are reserved for you, and late arrivals may need to be rescheduled. The sooner we hear from you, the more options we may have.
