From the Provider

“So many women spend years assuming their symptoms are just something to live with. My favorite moments are when a patient realizes she can actually talk about it — and that we can find a solution.”

About the Provider

Maz knew by the end of high school that she wanted a career in medicine. Medical school was the assumed path until she shadowed a few physician assistants and saw how much time they were able to spend with patients, listening and helping them find a path forward. She went on to work as a medical assistant in urogynecology and loved it, and though she later spent time in primary care, she found her way back to what she calls her roots.

In primary care, working with an older patient population and often as the only female practitioner, she saw how many women had simply stopped mentioning their symptoms, assuming nothing could be done. Given a safe space to talk about them, they could finally find solutions. Creating that space is the center of how Maz practices — and it reflects a deeper commitment she carries into all of her work: advocating for women and making sure they can get the care they need.

Maz splits her time between the clinic and the operating room, where she assists in surgery. In clinic, she cares for patients experiencing stress, urge and mixed urinary incontinence, painful sex, endometriosis, polyendocrine metabolic ovarian syndrome (PMOS, formerly known as PCOS) and abnormal bleeding.

Outside of work, Maz enjoys hiking, cooking, reading and spending time with her family. She is a member of the American Academy of Physician Associates and volunteers with a Feeding America food bank.
