Courtney Salzano, MSW, LCSW, is a behavioral and mental health therapist with Women's Healthcare Associates in Portland, Oregon.
“I’ve worked with new parents and families throughout my career. Having my own child and experiencing that profound and vulnerable transition firsthand has given me a deeper well of empathy and dedication to normalizing and supporting the wide variety of ways people experience pregnancy and postpartum.”
Always interested in helping people, Courtney’s connection to her work has deepened over time as she’s witnessed how powerful healthy relationships can be in supporting maternal mental health and early childhood attachment. She believes relationships within the family system, between providers and with patients can be significant conduits of positive change and growth through some of life’s most challenging transitions. Courtney appreciates being able to support people through grief and loss; trauma related to past birth and pregnancy experiences; postpartum anxiety; and the identity, communication and relationship challenges that can come with parenthood. Her past experience includes significant attachment work, helping people rebuild trust and the ability to create deep and meaningful connections—as well as working with pregnant teens and new parents.
Away from work, Courtney is deep into toddler parenthood and all the Bluey re-runs that entails. In addition to a young child, she and her spouse are parents to a gigantic Golden retriever, Marshall, and are professionals when it comes to navigating the Portland Zoo.
