“I am amazed by the strength the women I care for show in navigating life’s challenges. I care for women in some of the most terrifying, humiliating, sad or difficult situations they will experience. Despite this stress, they are able to confide in me and trust I will listen. The toughness of women will never cease to humble and impress me.”
Dr. Steen decided to pursue medicine in college as a way to marry her passion for public service and science. As a competitive gymnast from age three through college, her team mentality, attention to detail and competitive spirit made the transition to medical school a natural one, and eventually led to the selection of obstetrics and gynecology as her specialty. Having spent so much of her youth surrounded by women pursuing various challenges, Dr. Steen thrives in caring for women of all ages and backgrounds. She loves the varied, fast-paced nature of OB/GYN and forming bonds of trust with her patients that are the foundation of supporting them through some of the most intense experiences of their lives. Her particular clinical interests include empowering women to manage their fertility and minimally invasive surgery.
Dr. Steen keeps busy in her spare time chasing her young daughter and spending time outdoors—hiking, kayaking, fishing or just barbecuing in the backyard. The daughter of a veterinarian, she loves animals and also enjoys painting, reading and running.
