Provider Bio

Katie Himel, CNM, is a certified nurse-midwife at Women's Healthcare Associates in Portland, Oregon.

From the Provider

“I see a lot of women who have struggled with chronic gynecological issues for a while without a diagnosis or effective solution. I enjoy helping them get to the bottom of whatever is happening. Sometimes that’s a scientific, medical process—but sometimes it’s helping them connect other dots in their lives. I spend as much time trying to understanding their specific problem as the bigger picture. I love working together with my patients to find solutions—and to share the knowledge of what has worked in one situation with other women experiencing similar issues.”

About the Provider

Katie is passionate about science and evidence-based medicine and she enjoys helping her patients understand both in order to make decisions that are right for them. She believes that every person should have access to all the available information and knowledge to apply to their unique situation and that her job is to share what she knows and respect the decisions they make. In addition to caring for women during pregnancy, Katie loves gynecology and regularly helps women address menstrual problems, birth control problems, vulvar health issues and vaginitis.

Katie is avid reader and podcast listener. She also loves yoga and rock climbing. She and her husband have two daughters and their family enjoys playing games, travel and camping.
