From the Provider
“I don’t save lives most of the time, but I do practice life-changing medicine. If bladder or pelvic floor symptoms are keeping you from playing with your kids, going out to dinner or getting through a movie without worrying about the bathroom, there are ways we can make that better.”
About the Provider
Before becoming a physician, Dr. Renkosiak taught seventh- and eighth-grade science. The experience taught her something she still carries into medicine: everyone learns differently, and good teaching starts with understanding the person in front of you. Today, patient education remains one of her favorite parts of practice. She especially enjoys the moment when someone says, “I’ve been wondering about this, and I finally have an answer.”
Dr. Renkosiak discovered urogynecology almost by accident during a surgical rotation and was immediately drawn to the difference pelvic floor care can make in everyday life. She treats the full range of urogynecologic conditions, with particular expertise in urinary incontinence, overactive bladder and urgency, pelvic organ prolapse, recurrent urinary tract infections, accidental bowel leakage and fistulas. Her care includes both nonsurgical and surgical options, from pelvic floor physical therapy and pessary management to procedures and surgery for more advanced conditions.
She has a particular interest in helping people understand pelvic floor changes after childbirth. Prolapse and bladder leakage are common postpartum and often improve with time, but persistent symptoms deserve attention. With all her patients, Dr. Renkosiak wants to make it easier to talk openly about symptoms that can feel embarrassing or isolating, especially when internet searches have made them seem more alarming. She takes time to explain what’s happening, what options are available and what people can reasonably expect from treatment.
Outside of work, Dr. Renkosiak enjoys spending time with her husband, young child and dog. She likes getting outdoors, going to the coast, running and hiking, and reads everything from historical and crime fiction to thrillers and memoirs.
