Janice H. Park, MD, is an OB/GYN physician and surgeon with Women's Healthcare Associates in Tualatin, Oregon.
“I really enjoy changing someone’s mind about the health care system and how much agency and control they have over their own bodies, especially during childbirth. I want everyone to go into labor with an understanding of how it might go and what their options are in different situations—and to feel like I’m someone they can turn to when making decisions.”
The child of an OB/GYN physician, Dr. Park grew up with the support of her mother in pursuing a career in medicine. She was drawn to follow her mother’s footsteps into OBGYN for the variety it offered; being able to care for people in the hospital and clinic during various stages of their lives, helping them navigate vulnerable topics and difficult decisions, being alongside them during moments of great joy and supporting their overall wellbeing. Today, Dr. Park enjoys all aspects of her job, but finds particular satisfaction in contraception and fertility counseling, minimally invasive pelvic surgery, general obstetrics and perimenopausal care. In general, she appreciates being able to problem-solve with patients—working with each person to understand their issues, validate their feelings and experiences, discuss their options and move forward together with a cohesive plan.
Dr. Park mostly grew up in Virginia and comes to the Pacific Northwest most recently from Arizona, where she completed her residency. She enjoys spending time away from work with her cat, Hobbes and husband—and also enjoys board games, music, photography and travel.
