About the Provider
With a physician mother and pastor father, Dr. Johnson’s roots in providing care and service to others are deep. One of the things he enjoys most about practicing OB/GYN is the chance to partner with his patients to improve their health and lives from childbirth through menopause. Dr. Johnson was one of the founding physicians of WHA. Before starting WHA’s Newberg office in 2003, he practiced primarily at Providence St. Vincent Hospital in Portland for nearly 16 years. While there, he served as medical director of the Prenatal Clinic for nine years and chairman of the Quality Assurance Committee of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology 11 years. Since beginning his practice in Newberg, he has served as the president of medical staff at the hospital and is currently the OB/Pediatrics Department Chair. Dr. Johnson is a member of the faculty at OHSU and the College of Osteopathic Medicine of the Pacific-Northwest.
When he’s not working, Dr. Johnson enjoys spending time with his grandchildren and can often be found skiing on the mountain or river and swimming. He and his daughter, a third generation physician, have made two medical mission trips to the remote Galmi Hospital in Niger.

Is there anything else you would like to share about your experience with your provider?
Would have liked a heads up on having a chaperone present during pelvic exam. Chaperone came right in during the beginning of exam without an introduction. Would have preferred them keep a distance as to not see everything, felt uncomfortable.
