She/her
Physician and Surgeon
Obstetrics and Gynecology
Anela Puljic, MD, is an OB/GYN physician and surgeon with Women's Healthcare Associates in Tualatin, Oregon.
“Being able to see people at different stages of their lives, getting to know them as their needs and goals evolve and supporting them with different types of care along the way is one of the most rewarding parts of my practice.”
Dr. Puljic credits the reputation of a delicious sandwich for launching her career in medicine at a time when she was deciding how to fulfill her high school’s volunteering requirement. What began as a 12-hour assignment at Adventist Health Portland Medical Center turned into a two-year stay before going on to college, medical school and residency. During her training, she was drawn to obstetrics and gynecology because it allowed her to work in different settings and provide access to the type of care and knowledge women in her home country of Bosnia didn’t always receive—like contraception, family planning and abortion care—enabling people to have autonomy over their reproductive health.
Today, Dr. Puljic wants to encourage her patients to seek care when they need it by fostering positive experiences that turn fear and anxiety about seeing the doctor into knowledge, understanding and confidence in managing their own health. She sees people with a range of gynecologic concerns, including heavy or painful periods, pelvic pain, endometriosis and uterine fibroids. In addition to routine pregnancy care, Dr. Puljic also manages more complicated situations during pregnancy, including diabetes, high blood pressure, liver disease and twin pregnancies. She is passionate about helping people with limited English proficiency understand what to expect from their care and enjoys the long-term relationships she is able to form by helping all of her patients navigate different challenges throughout their lives.
Outside of work, Dr. Puljic’s two dogs are the center of her active life, which includes travel, road trips, dog beaches and getting together with other devoted dog parents.
