Elisabeth Susanka, MD, is a board-certified OB/GYN physician at Women's Healthcare Associates in Oregon City, Oregon.
“It’s satisfying to be able to make a difference in someone’s life. That could mean helping them understand what’s normal. Or finally explaining a condition they’re experiencing in a way they understand—or just making sure they are up to date on all their preventative care and know how to manage their health. For some women, their visit with me is the only time they’ll see a healthcare provider all year and so it’s a real opportunity to make a difference.”
Dr. Susanka was attracted to OB/GYN initially because she loved delivering babies—but quickly realized it was a way to devote herself to a population that needed support at a time when women were just beginning to enter the workforce. Today, she focuses her practice on office-based gynecology and wellness and still strives to be a supportive healthcare partner in the life of every woman she sees. She values having long-term patients and enjoys getting to know new ones—in some cases, the teenage children of women for whom she’s cared for decades. Her areas of specialty include women’s wellness and preventative care, perimenopause, menopause and breast health. She is also a certified clinical densitometrist and counsels women on the management of osteoporosis.
Dr. Susanka is a life-long Oregonian and has practiced in the Oregon City community for more than 20 years. She babysits her grandson once a week for her daughter, who is a local veterinarian. She also enjoys reading and she and her husband like to camp and travel.
