  • Northwest Gynecology Center – Lloyd District
Phone Number: 503-249-5454

Dr. Hamilton grew up in Colorado and spent his youth Alpine ski racing. He attended St. Lawrence University in upstate New York for his bachelor’s degree in chemistry. He worked in construction engineering for five years before following in the footsteps of several generations of his family and returning to medical school at Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Dr. Hamilton moved to Portland to complete his OB/GYN specialty training at OHSU and is board certified in obstetrics and gynecology.

Dr. Hamilton cares for women during pregnancy and throughout their lives. He specializes in helping address complex gynecological issues, such as severe endometriosis, pelvic organ prolapse and urinary incontinence. He is dedicated to communicating the latest medical science and treatment options in understandable terms and to helping women achieve their goals for leading full and healthy lives—even when that means trying multiple approaches to find what works best for them.

Dr. Hamilton is part of WHA’s urogynecology team that specializes in treating the symptoms of pelvic floor dysfunction. His particular interest is in expanding the use of available technology, including traditional and robotic laparoscopy, to accomplish more intensive surgical therapy through less invasive procedures—reducing both recovery time and the risk of surgical complications. In this area of his practice, Dr. Hamilton sees women experiencing leakage of urine with activity (such as coughing, sneezing, running or jumping); the urge to urinate frequently; and the prolapse—or dropping—of pelvic organs such as the uterus or bladder, which can cause the sensation of pelvic pressure or bulging at the opening of the vagina.

Another important aspect of Dr. Hamilton’s practice is the minimally invasive treatment of varicose veins. Using a non-surgical office procedure, he helps women who have painful, bulging veins find relief, restore confidence and prevent further progression of the underlying disease.

When he's not working, Dr. Hamilton enjoys ocean wave sailing, Alpine skiing and fly fishing. He and his wife, whom he met while they were both undergraduates in New York, have two daughters
