Dr. van Swam grew up in Richland, Washington. She attended Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois, where she obtained her Bachelor’s degree in Cognitive Science. Dr. van Swam went on to medical school at the New York Medical College in Valhalla, New York where she was honored with The Sanford Sall, MD Award in obstetrics and gynecology. She completed her residency in obstetrics and gynecology at the University of Colorado, where she was chief resident and nominated for the Gold Foundation Humanism and Excellence in Teaching Award.
Dr. van Swam is interested in all aspects of the practice of obstetrics and gynecology, particularly adolescent and pediatric gynecology. She enjoys creating relationships with patients focused on education and preventive medicine. When she’s not practicing medicine, Dr. van Swam can be found hiking, backpacking, telemark skiing or cooking. She speaks conversational Spanish and Swedish.
