Martha has spent most of her nursing career in the field of women's health, which she first became interested in as a nursing student at Oregon Health & Science University. Her first nursing position was in a hospital maternity unit. She went on to obtain her certification as a nurse practitioner on the east coast and worked in public family planning / women's health clinics. Martha then obtained her graduate degree at the University of Colorado in the area of maternal-fetal health. This enabled her to teach in a university nursing program for five years.
Martha is a native Oregonian. She and her husband enjoy travel, reading and numerous outdoor activities. She is also beginning to learn and practice the art of quilting.
