Dr. Kruger grew up in Farmington, Minnesota. She attended the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities, obtaining her undergraduate degree in Biochemistry and Genetics/Cell Biology. She went on to the Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukie, where she was a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society. She also received the AMWA Glasgow Memorial Scholarship Achievement Citation and the Merck manual Award for Outstanding Scholastic Achievement.
After finishing medical school, Dr. Kruger completed her residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. During residency, she was honored with an Excellence in Teaching award for OB/GYN and two awards related to her residency research. She taught as a clinical assistant professor at the University of Wisconsin, Madison for three years following residency. Dr. Kruger is board-certified in OB/GYN and has been in private practice in the Portland metro area since 2006.
Dr. Kruger’s clinical interests include high-risk and operative obstetrics, vaginal birth after cesarean section and evidence-based medicine. She chose to transition from office-based practice to the role of an OB/GYN hospitalist because she enjoys the faster pace and higher acuity of hospital medicine.
Dr. Kruger is married with three children. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, running and competing in triathlons.
