Women's Healthcare Associates welcomes new physician

Women’s Healthcare Associates, LLC welcomed Sandra Emmons, MD to its practice on May 1, 2008.

Emmons received her undergraduate degree in biochemistry from McGill University in Montreal, and worked in immunology research at Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center in Seattle before attending medical school. She received her medical degree from the University of Washington School of Medicine and completed residency training in obstetrics and gynecology at Oregon Health Sciences University. She is board certified in obstetrics and gynecology.

Emmons most recently served as an Associate Professor and Vice Chair for Education at OHSU, where her research interests included medical education and the use of acupuncture in women’s health. Although she enjoys all aspects of obstetrics and gynecology, she has a special clinical interest in minimally invasive surgery and infectious diseases.

Emmons is practicing from Women’s Healthcare Associates’ Newberg office, located on the Providence Newberg Medical Center Campus.

Women's Healthcare Associates welcomes new minimally invasive surgeon

Women’s Healthcare Associates, LLC welcomed Liberato Mukul, MD to its practice on April 21, 2008.

Dr. Mukul comes to Women’s Healthcare Associates from the University of Colorado Health Sciences Campus, where he served on the faculty as Director of Minimally Invasive Surgery and Director of Denver Veterans Affairs Women’s Health Services. While at the University of Colorado, Dr. Mukul developed a fellowship program in minimally invasive surgery and helped create a multidisciplinary center for minimally invasive surgery. He also served as director of the gynecology curriculum for residents and associate director for medical students.

Dr. Mukul received his undergraduate degree in nutrition science from California State University Long Beach and his medical degree from the University of Southern California. He completed his residency in obstetrics and gynecology at the Kaiser Foundation Hospital in San Francisco, California. He then practiced obstetrics and gynecology in South San Francisco for two years before moving to Wisconsin to complete a fellowship in advanced endoscopy at the Medical College of Wisconsin. Dr. Mukul has received many awards for community service, and was an Association of Professor in Gynecology and Obstetrics/Solvay Scholar in 2007.

Dr. Mukul’s interests are in helping patients choose the best medical or surgical alternative with the least impact on daily life. His clinical focus includes menstrual irregularities, fibroid treatment options, endometriosis, ovarian cysts, pelvic pain, polycystic ovary syndrome, and sterilization options. He is board certified in obstetrics and gynecology and speaks fluent Spanish.

Dr. Mukul is seeing patients from Women’s Healthcare Associates’ offices on the Peterkort Campus, adjacent to Providence St. Vincent Medical Center in Portland.
