Leap Year Babies Total 27 for Women's Healthcare Associates

Mar 02, 2012

Leap Year 2012Women’s Healthcare Associates OB/GYN physicians and certified nurse midwives welcomed 27 babies at five area hospitals on Wednesday, February 29th.

The count at Meridian Park Medical Center in Tualatin alone included eight babies. Among them were two beautiful baby girls—Alyson Kathleen Carnathan and Arabella Leigh Caldwell. For both families, the babies are their first children. Little Alyson arrived nearly a month early to parents Tiffany and Ryan Carnathan, who began thinking on Monday that they would have a February baby. Neither had considered Leap Year until the grandparents began wondering.

Baby Arabella, due on February 23rd, needed some extra help making an entrance. Parents Morgan and Scott Caldwell checked in to the hospital on Tuesday and labored for a day before having Arabella by c-section on Wednesday. Mom said, “A bell rings in the birth center whenever a baby is born, and we could tell it was a very busy night!”

Among the eight babies delivered by Women’s Healthcare Associates at Providence St. Vincent Medical Center were twin girls Ella and Emily, who were anxious to get here. Mom Angela Anderson had been in and out of the hospital with preterm labor since January. She checked in again a week before the girls arrived on Wednesday. The babies were due on April 5th, but dad Craig reported they are doing well and everyone is thrilled with their Leap Year entrance.

It was a busy day all around the metro area; we welcomed two babies at Legacy Emanuel Medical Center, two at Providence Portland Medical Center and seven at Providence Willamette Falls Medical Center. The only birth center that remained quiet was Providence Newberg Medical Center.

The babies born at Willamette Falls included Henry Michael Main, third child of Jeremy and Sara Main and baby brother of older sisters Hailey and Chloe. This was a very special delivery for us; Sara is a medical assistant in our Oregon City office and has been with Women’s Healthcare Associates (previously Women’s Health Center of Oregon) for nearly 10 years. Little Henry was due on February 26th and the whole family is very excited he decided to wait.

Congratulations to all the families of these unique children! We look forward to seeing them as they grow. Like Women's Healthcare Associates on Facebook and post pictures >
